A week-long celebration of talent at this in-school art gallery
Located near some of the finest universities in the area, Delhi Public School, Sonepat has risen to prominence for its quality education, inclusion and diversity.
The school is known for its ARTEM Festival, a week-long celebration that marks the culmination of the art courses, programming, international and national academic exchanges and competitions for the year.
The festival displays an array of children’s art for sale, the proceeds of which go to a different social cause each year. “The mission is to give consistent attention that creativity requires for its effective impact in a school’s pedagogy,” says Ranjoo Mann, pro vice chairperson.
DPS Sonepat boasts an in-school art gallery that has empowered the creative ability of the children.
ARTEM, in its fifth edition, invited Radha Mahendru, curator of the Delhi-based Khoj Foundation, to chair the art competition. In her closing note, Mahendru said, “Both science and art are human attempts to understand and describe the world around us. The subjects and methods have different traditions, and the intended audiences are different, but I think the motivations and goals are fundamentally the same. Art is not an isolated skill, it is the harbinger of creativity and emotional intelligence.”
Ranjoo Mann added, “Enabling students to embrace their creativity will always remain a priority for the school.”
