Web is the way forward: Shilpa

- Rishabh Suri ■ rishabh.suri@htlive.com

Actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra, after films and dabbling with reality shows on television, is now trying her hands at radio and web platforms. Even though she might have been absent from films for close to a decade now, what’s really interesting to note is that her friends are still keen on roping her for their [movie] projects.

For instance, when Shilpa’s friend, actor Suniel Shetty was recently asked if he would do a Tulu movie, he stated that if it was for a good cause and the proceeds from it would be used for the education of children, he would surely do it, and also rope in his “friends Shilpa (Shetty), Aishwarya (Rai Bachchan) and Rohit (Shetty) for it.” On this, Shilpa says, “It will be one hell of a super hit!”

Ask her if she has been able to make more such true friends in a cut-throat industry like Bollywood, the actor asserts, “Of course! I have made a lot of friends [on whom] I can depend on, but if you ask me about my ‘best friends’ then they are not from the industry.”

Shilpa, who’s part of a virtual dating show currently, is impressed by the web medium. “I think web is the way forward. It gives people the choice of having to choose what they want to watch... at their (own) time (and pace). That I think is an important aspect of entertainment at this time and age,” says Shilpa, adding, “These platforms aren’t competing in any way with the small or big screen. It’s content that works, and it’s the king.”
