Singer Harrdy Sandhu never imagined that Naah, his Punjabi single, would go on to be the blockbuster hit that it has. And the song’s success meant added pressure on the 32-yearold to produce similar songs.

“That’s why I took a bit of time on this one,” Harrdy says about his latest single, Kya Baat Ay. “I had to make sure that I don’t get carried away by all the praise I had got because of that song, and secondly, I didn’t want my fans to be disappointed with my upcoming music. I wanted it to be the best,” he adds.

Harrdy’s Naah has been one of 2018’s biggest hits, but the singer admits he never expected it. “I did know there was something special about this song. Because every time when we were on the sets or in the van, and someone would play the song, within 15 minutes everybody who heard that song that tune would start humming it,” he says.

The song’s quirky lyrics and peppy beats have struck a chord with listeners, and Harrdy says, “Yes it was something different and I just knew that something will happen with the song.” But it’s not as if the singer hasn’t had popular hits before — Harrdy has delivered chartbusters such as Soch, Horn Blow and Backbone. “It’s always special that a song composed by you is being liked by people. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first hit or just another hit. Every song has a different level of excitement,” he signs off.
