December 1 faceoff for RanveerDeepika’s Mumbai function and PriyankaNick’s DDay in Jodhpur
In the weeks after Diwali, Bollywood’s action will shift from the box office to celebrity band-baajabaraats. And a possible ‘date duel’ unlike any other. Actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh who are tying the knot on November 14-15, will host a grand reception on December 1 in Mumbai, which incidentally is also the speculated wedding date for actor Priyanka Chopra and singer Nick Jonas in Jodhpur.
The first is believed to be at Lake Como, Italy, the second in Jodhpur’s Umaid Bhavan Palace. In fact, Priyanka made brief appearances in DeepikaRanveer’s love story in Ram-Leela, then in Bajirao Mastani. Now their paths are set to cross in a manner least expected — Ranveer and Deepika have reportedly booked Grand Hyatt, Mumbai, for 3,000 guests for a reception on December 1, the day of Priyanka’s wedding. The wedding vs reception clash of the decade has put celebrities in a bind about which function to attend. Only close friends and family are invited to the weddings of both the couples. We learned that invitation cards have gone out for the Priyanka-Nick wedding. “The wedding will take place on December 1 and the threeday-long functions include sangeet and mehendi on November 29 and 30. They have a select guest list of 200, including relatives and close friends,” says a source. Mid-Day reported only four close friends from the film industry will go to Lake Como for the Deepika Ranveer wedding. The paper quoted a source as saying since Deepika is close to Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan, they will be by her side.
At Priyanka’s wedding venue, “the authorities have been strictly told not to entertain any queries. The hotel was approached for bookings but the advance is yet to reach them,” adds the source. The sangeet and bachelor’s night party will take place at Mehrangarh Fort.
What are the couples wearing for their big day? “Both Priyanka and Nick will be dressed in Indian designer outfits and are meeting designers,” says the source. Details of Deepika and Ranveer’s special day are being kept under wraps. However, sources say they will opt for “Sabyasachi outfits’ for their wedding”.
Reportedly, Ranveer and Deepika’s wedding will follow both South Indian and North Indian customs.
But guests are worried the close-knit wedding may clash with the grand reception on December 1. We tried to connect with Priyanka to confirm details but she remained unavailable till the time of going to press.
Also, actor-comedian Kapil Sharma and his girlfriend Ginni Chatrath will tie the knot on December 12, in Jalandhar.
