‘FATHERHOOD HAS MADE LIFE NORMAL’
Actor Tusshar Kapoor, now on a break to spend time with his son, says Laksshya has completed him
On Dussehra this year, the famous tots of Bollywood got together for their own kiddie party. Among them was Laksshya, the two-and-a-halfyear-old son of Tusshar Kapoor. In 2016, the actor had broken stereotypes, becoming a single father through IVF surrogacy. Now he recalls how the positive response to his decision came as a very pleasant surprise.
“I was very happy with the kind of reception I got from people when I announced Laksshya in my life. There was no negative thought that came to me. Of course, there are some 0.5% people who say things, but otherwise things worked very well and I was really happy and felt blessed,” says Tusshar, who keeps fans informed about his son through social media.
Life must have changed after fatherhood, we ask. “It hasn’t changed me as a person, but it has completed me,” says the Tusshar. “I think this is what I wanted in my life, and this is what has sort of made my life very normal. As actors, we don’t live a normal life, but with Laksshya coming into my life, everything seems to have become normal,” adds the actor, who made his film debut with Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai (2001) and is the son of cinema veteran Jeetendra.
Single parenthood can be daunting. But for Tusshar, it was about being sure of the decision, rather than about dealing with the result. He says, “This decision was solely mine. Of course, there were friends who were confidants and my family supported me, but I did the entire process on my own, so in a way, I was my own strength. When you take a decision like this, you have to be very sure about it.”
As for his career, Tusshar, last seen in the comedy hit Golmaal Again last year, says that he’ll reveal his plans soon. While he might be seen in the web space, the actor feels that his personal story may be something one can learn from.
“I know this might serve as an inspiration for many single parents out there, but you have to want this so badly that other people’s opinion wouldn’t matter,” he says.
