Red pout 101: Make that lipstick last longer

-

There’s something fascinating about red lips! There’s a shade out there for everyone, and one swipe is all you need to brighten up your face in no time.

But isn’t it upsetting when that colour smudges easily or gets transferred to your coffee cup each time you take a sip? Ask the pout pros how to avoid that and they would tell you that the secret lies in smart prep and application. Red lipstick can be tricky especially because the colour is so pigmented that uneven application shows through.

Here are tips and tricks that will make a world of a difference in how often you reapply your lipstick. Ace it before you wear your favourite red, this Karva Chauth: First things first, exfoliate your lips to remove any dead skin and moisturise using a hydrating lip balm, leaving it on for about 10 minutes. Wipe with a tissue, and use a lip primer to create a smooth base that’ll hold the lipstick better. Have discolouration on the lips? Then dab some foundation to have a uniform base for application. Define your lips with a matching red lip liner. The texture of the pencil is rough so it prevents the colour from bleeding. You can also fill the corners with it, and then apply the lipstick.

Next, blot with a tissue paper placed on your lips, and set the colour by dusting some translucent powder over it using a brush.

Lastly, re-dab your lipstick lightly for a fresh look.
