A cliché-busting supernatural thriller

-

When we talk about a horror film, the things that come to mind are black magic, an evil spirit, or monstrous creatures. The makers of Lupt say that they’ve tried to break these stereotypes associated with the horror genre.

Director Prabhuraj says that the film — it stars Jaaved Jaaferi and Vijay Raaz — ventures into the space of supernatural thrillers like never before and is devoid of all the clichés.

“I love horror and thriller films,” says the filmmaker. “While we have some great horror films in India, we haven’t been able to tap this genre much. Also, horror for us has always been about blood, jaadu tona, etc. While writing Lupt, I ensured that the film has drama in its story, and that the spooky elements should come from the technical aspects, such as light and sound. There’s no one drinking blood, eating flesh or doing jaadu tona in the film,” he adds.

The makers promise that the audiences will enjoy the film as it’s replete with what they call jump-scare moments.

The lead actors, famous for their comic timing, come in a serious avatar in Lupt. Their co-stars are Karan Aanand, Niki Walia, Meenakshi Dixit, Rishab Chadha, and Rishina Kandhari. Lupt, produced by Hanwant Khatri and Lalit Kiri, under their banner Fun Entertainments, will release on November 2.
