Ambedkar Park in UP gets makeover for a film shoot
ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS LANDMARKS IN LUCKNOW, THE PARK WAS TRANSFORMED OVERNIGHT FOR THE CELEBRATORY SCENE FILMED ON SIDHARTH AND PARINEETI
Actors Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra are shooting in full swing for their next film together, titled Jabariya Jodi. And recently, they shot for a big celebration sequence at the Ambedkar Memorial Park, in Lucknow.
The Uttar Pradesh city is where the film unit first started shooting in September, and a recce team had been looking for an elaborate park-type set-up — the memorial park was the only suitable venue. A source shares, “The sequence to be shot was a big one and needed an elaborate setup. The Ambedkar Park is one of the biggest parks in UP and the director (Prashant Singh) was keen to shoot there. The team sorted permissions overnight and took about three days to do the set-up before starting to shoot.” Sidharth plays a smalltown Bihari, while Parineeti’s character is heavily influenced by the West but stuck in Patna.
The source adds, “The director wanted to showcase the celebratory scene in a certain way; he scouted the park extensively before the shoot. He has shot at some (relatively) unexplored locations inside the park, showing it through a very different lens. We wanted the entire park to be lit up, since it gets dark after sunset. The team sourced those lights to decorate the park from the interiors of Lucknow, and a few special LED ones from Mumbai were transported overnight.”
The makers plan to wrap up the Lucknow shoot by November. Some parts will be shot in Patna as well.
