From green Diwali decorations, bazaars, a showcase of Ramayana to Kids Diwali Workshops and sustainable initiatives such as newspaper collection by schools, Select CITYWALK is all geared up for the festival of lights with an eco-friendly touch.

With lights aplenty and greenery in abundance, the entire shopping centre has been adorned with airpurifying plants and beautiful LED lights. Some the grand decor highlights include an exquisite Bamboo installation in the Central Atrium and the Greenhouse installation created out of 1,500 plants at The Plaza.

The plants that are installed include Scindapus, Ferns, Aglaonema, and Cordyline, and adequate arrangements for their maintenance, such as watering them during the course of the display, have been ensured.

Commenting on the festive offerings, Gitanjali Singh, vice president, marketing, Select CITYWALK, said, “Augmenting the festive fervor of its shoppers, Select CITYWALK has embraced an eco-friendly approach through Green Diwali this year. We have tried to follow a zerowaste policy for our Diwali decorations and have also reduced the energy consumption by 50% in the decorations as compared to last year. We are also running various exciting offers and hosting a wide range of events such as Diwali Bazaar, Shopping Promotion, Ramayana, and the Recycling Newspapers, Saving Trees initiative, among many other things. With a line-up of such exclusive events, we are confident to offer the best of the festive season to our shoppers.”

At the onset of the festival of lights, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art presented Ramayana by Shriram Bhartiya Kala Kendra in a traditional and contemporary South Asian form to its shoppers. For children too, there was much to enjoy vis-àvis the Kids Diwali Workshop and a special kids activity zone wherein they enjoyed and learned how to make laddoos, diya decorations and much more. Beside all that, a diya festival was also organised to provide a platform to various NGOs to showcase their Diwali-centric goods.

As part of their sustainable Diwali initiatives, Recycling Newspapers, Saving Trees drive is ongoing and will run till November 4. The shopping centre has invited schools, shoppers, and residents around the area to exchange old newspapers with plants. Children from schools will be coming along with newspapers collected from their homes and societies. To ensure maximum participation, the shopping hub is providing cab services in south Delhi within a radius of five kilometers to pick up newspapers from the doorstep of consumers. People who bring in close to five kilograms of newspapers will be gifted a potted plant.

Under this initiative, more than 2,000 kilo newspapers have already been collected.

Along with several other sustainable green initiatives, Select CITYWALK has also become the first shopping centre to initiate the No Plastic Straw campaign with 35+ F&B partners.
