In her career spanning over three decades, actor and stand-up comedian Upasana Singh has portrayed varied characters. From action to comedy and drama to thriller, she has explored all genres in both TV and films. The actor, however, says that she now enjoys doing stand-up comedy more than anything else.

“I get to play a variety of characters and make people laugh, mujhe maza aata hai. Otherwise, doing the same thing over and over again gets really boring. When people call me ‘comedy queen’ or ‘lady Amitabh’ in the world of comedy, it fills my heart with so much joy. As an artist, we all need to evolve. There’s nothing that I have not done, so I don’t feel deprived or competitive. Right now, I just want to do the work that makes me happy,” says the actor, who is doing several Punjabi films.

According to her, the industry is churning out good content-driven films that she wants to be a part of. “The characters that I am getting to portray in these films are meaty and challenging. It satisfies my creative urge. At this age, I want to keep it slow. And, at the same time, I am always up for good work,” adds the actor.

Ask her about doing web series and she says that she would love to. “The scope that the web space is giving everyone is immense,” says Upasana.
