Known for his unique performances in Hindi movies, two-time National Award-winning actor Annu Kapoor says that he just had one dream — to have a cup of tea in Manhattan, New York City, that’s worth $50.

During his visit to Amritsar on Wednesday, the actor told that his ‘Cup of Tea’ dream came true a few years back. “Being from a farmer’s family and having an average lifestyle in my early days, I could only dream of having that cup of tea at Manhattan. And when that moment finally arrived, I ordered a cup of tea at a restaurant that cost $19.36. I took out a $50 dollar note from my pocket, looked at the waiter and said ‘keep the change’,” he recalls.

He further says, “At that moment, joy and pride filled my heart, which is still essentially that of a farmer. I want this joy and prosperity in the hearts of every farmer in our country. I want every village and small town man to reach his desired heights of success while attaining happiness in such little dreams as well.”

The Jolly LLB 2 actor was in the holy city to promote his radio show, which he says is dedicated to making the listeners’ lives good and filled with joy. The actor says that he relishes his connection to the Punjabi roots, makki di roti, and sarson da saag when it is prepared in the traditional Punjabi style.

“Starting off as a farmer and then moving on to act in Hindi movies, everything in my life came after a lot of difficulties and struggle. So, with this show, I aim at bringing peace and melody into the lives of my listeners”, he says.

In the show, Kapoor will narrate stories that will focus on celebrities who have brought about a positive change in society. The USP of the show, he says, is its content, which is “based on authentic research as well as interviews conducted by Kapoor over the past few years. On making a comeback in TV, he says he hasn’t received any new good offers and will make a comeback only if the script is good and entertaining.
