Not in a rush to get married, Sonal wants to fall in love

Dating rumours between actor Sonal Chauhan and cricketer KL Rahul did the rounds some time back. The actor later denied them and now says she is “happily single”.

So, why is she still not in a relationship? “It has nothing to do with my career,” shares the 32-year-old.

She goes on to say, “I just feel that everybody in this world rushes into getting married. You meet someone, date for some time, and take the plunge. But I’ve always looked for a meaningful relationship. I haven’t found anyone who I could connect with on a deeper level. I’m not looking for anything which has no meaning and which is very casual.”

Link-ups are nothing new in

THE ACTOR SAYS THAT MARRIAGES DON’T LAST UNLESS YOU ARE MADLY IN LOVE WITH THE PERSON

Bollywood and Sonal has had enough of them. “It’s so ironical that in Bollywood — which is so forward in their thinking and makes some really progressive movies — when an actor hangs out with a guy, people link them up,” says Sonal, adding, “This is something I don’t like about the industry. Just because I am hanging out somewhere doesn’t mean I’m dating that person.”

But the negativity will not stop the Jannat (2008) actor from hanging out with friends. “If somebody’s thinking is petty, I’m not going to change my lifestyle or my friends because of that,” she says.

Many Bollywood celebs tied the knot recently, so does she also want to go down that road? “If I wanted to get married, I would have by now. I’ve always said that one should get married when they are ready for it and find the one who you want to share your life with,” Sonal says.

She adds, “I’ll get married when I’m in love with the person. One should marry for love and not because of the societal pressure or anxiety... People have stopped adjusting and then they fall out of their marriage. So, unless you are madly in love with that person, things don’t last.”
