An intense role calls for a holiday, says Rane

Harshvardhan Rane feels rejuvenated after a four-day sojourn amid the serene locales of south-west London. The actor, who has finished shooting in the UK for his next film, helmed by Bejoy Nambiar, says that he had been yearning for a break after playing a character which was quite intense. So, after the prep and shoot, Harshvardhan went for camping to unwind, spend some ‘me’ time.

“It’s the destination that chose me. After we finished shooting the first schedule of Taish, I discussed with Bejoy sir before the shoot had started that if things go well, I’ll be taking a small holiday. That’s exactly what I did… This the best way to unwind, especially if the role is intense,” says the 35-year-old.

This is the second time that the actor went holidaying in the UK and he thanks his friend for suggesting Box Hill, Surrey, as the place to visit.

“I started with Box Hill, Surrey. My friend Siddhant suggested this place because he knows that I like the countryside. He also knows that I like to go camping. I started living in a shepherd’s hut... I had to cook on my own, so I went to the nearest town and got some supplies for three nights and started cooking. The shower was an open one. Wood was provided for cooking. Everything was serene. It was a dream for me because I love to camp and the weather was perfect. The meals I cooked tasted good to me (laughs). Well, when you go to the countryside, you may think that you get to relax, but there’s so much work — there’s cooking, washing and even setting the fire. You remain physically active,” adds the actor, who made his Bollywood debut with Sanam Teri Kasam (2016).

When asked about the role he is playing in the Bejoy Nambiar directorial, the actor refuses to divulge details.

He says, “All I can say is that I can’t thank Bejoy sir enough for giving me this role. I love everything about him… I had to lock myself down for a week in a bungalow for the prep. Before that, we did workshops. There are a lot of things which Bejoy sir has added to the role. I’m looking forward to seeing it on the big screen… I hope the audience connects with my work and Bejoy sir’s vision.”
