After winning ₹1 crore, Babita plans to continue her studies
Turning around their life in an instant is what most people dream of. And though Babita Tade from Maharashtra, with her recent win on Kaun Banega Crorepati, seems to have realised the dream, her success has actually been in the making for years. She answered the big question correctly on the game show, and took home a lifechanging ₹1 crore.
Naturally, Babita is ecstatic. She feels like having achieved everything. “Aisa lag raha tha sab jeet liya hai. My struggle has paid off. My job is to cook mid-day meals for a school in Maharashtra. I have struggled to get education since my childhood, but not for other things. My father was well-off, but I never got time to study. I would only get that, say, sometimes at night. So I knew the importance of education, and have got that after a lot of struggle. I wanted to do something in life, but couldn’t,” says Babita, who managed to complete basic education, and also attempted to take competitive exams in 2015.
“I am a graduate now,” she says proudly. “I wanted to do postgraduation too, but my children, a son and a daughter, were too young, and there was no one to look after them. I had to discontinue my studies.”
Completing her education is the first thing she plans to do with the prize money. “Merey liye wahi badi baat hai ki main ab padhai karungi. Then, I will secure the future of my children. My son is in class 10, and daughter is preparing for competitive exams. Also, my husband has had a tough time. He’s a peon in the same school I cook for. He can now lead the life he wants,” she adds.
Babita, of course, doesn’t sign off before gushing about her experience sitting on the hot seat opposite host Amitabh Bachchan. “Itni positive energy aa gayi hai, ki ab koi bhi problem aa jaaye, face kar sakti hoon. He advised me that I have got this amount after a lot of struggle, I have to spend it wisely and yet complete my unfulfilled dreams,” she says.
