A healthy marathon for your heart
On the occasion of world heart month, Yashoda Super Speciality Hospital Kaushambi, Ghaziabad organised its first half-marathon under the leadership of its executive director Shubhang Arora.
This half marathon was jointly inaugurated by the chief guests of the event — General VK Singh (retd) Union Minister of State, and Arun Singh, national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party. PK Gupta, principal chief commissioner of Income Tax, UP West region and Sangeet Som, MLA were the special guests on this occasion. PN Arora, managing director, Upasana Arora, director and Shubhang Arora, executive director enthusiastically participated and guided the entire event. The chief guests of the event also participated in the half marathon. On the occasion, Shubhang Arora said, “The theme of this marathon was ‘Run For Your Heart’. It was done to create awareness about keeping the heart and health intact to prevent diseases and live a happy and healthy life.”
He added, “The halfmarathon was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India Movement.” This run was organised in three parts — 21km-long halfmarathon, 10km run and 5km run. An additional 5km walkathon was also organised. Yashoda half marathon started from Yashoda Super Speciality Hospital Kaushambi and went via UP Gate to Hindon elevated road till Hindon bridge. It took a U-turn from there, after which the participants came back to the finish point, which was at the Yashoda Super Speciality Hospital Kaushambi. In this half-marathon more than 1,500 people participated. Organisers claim it was was the first time a marathon was organised on an elevated road. Hence, it was named the “first elevated marathon of the country”.
One of the highlights of this marathon was that foreign nationals from Germany along with doctors, children, women and elderly people also participated in this run.
