Guillermo del Toro to publish new book of short ‘strange’ stories

-

Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro is working on another book, which will be a collection of original short stories, reported Entertainment Weekly.

The publisher teased that the book “will introduce a world of strange happenings, otherworldly horror, and dark fantasy”.

Guillermo, whose filmography reflects his childhood fascination with monsters, said he is privileged to share his personal fantasy stories.

“Throughout the years, I have been inspired by reading short stories — from ghost stories to fairy tales. Now I have the privilege to create and share my own,” said the director, who is known for films such as Pan’s Labyrinth (2006) and The Shape of Water (2017).

The book is untitled at this point.

This year, Guillermo produced the big screen adaptation of Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark, another horror. PTI

Actors Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill will soon be returning to the world of the dinosaurs with the upcoming film Jurassic World 3.

The trio appeared in the 1993 original Jurassic Park. They will be reprising their roles in the third chapter of the Jurassic World franchise, reports variety.com. Dern will play Dr Ellie Sattler, Neill will portray Dr Alan Grant, and Goldblum will return as the wisecracking Dr Ian Malcolm.

Colin Trevorrow, who directed the 2015 film Jurassic World, is also returning to direct the project.

Actor Chris Pratt, who starred in Jurassic World, is also set to be back as dinosaur handler Owen Grady while Bryce Dallas Howard will reprise the role of dinosaur rights activist Claire Dearing.

The casting of Dern, Goldblum and Neill was announced at a special screening of Jurassic World when the director brought out Dern during the question-andanswer segment.

Steven Spielberg and Trevorrow will executive produce the project. Emily Carmichael has written the new instalment’s screenplay with Trevorrow. They worked off a story by Derek Connolly and Trevorrow, who together co-wrote Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018). The plot is currently being kept under wraps.

The film is expected to release in 2021.
