Other than being part of Mira Nair’s ensemble film, A Suitable Boy, actor Vijay Varma has been locked in for another project titled Ghost Stories for an OTT platform. The short film is being directed by Zoya Akhtar, who he had previously worked with in Gully Boy. Apparently, it was his latest OTT commercial that helped him bag these new offers.

“His association with the platform started with a commercial, wherein he plays KIRTI KULHARI, a character called Pappu Paketmaar, a local pickpocket, whose petty crimes come to an end after he discovers the platform’s line up of upcoming originals. He shot for a second sketch after his fans on social media were intrigued and he even got positive feedback for it. This ad, too, like the first, uses Bambaiya slang, which reminds people of Moeen [his character] from Gully Boy,” says a source.

Talking about it, Vijay says, “It was incredible to see Pappu get that kind of attention. I didn’t expect it at all. And yes, Kavita Awaasthi

Actor Kirti Kulhari has been a part of two of the biggest hits of 2019 — Uri: The Surgical Strike and Mission Mangal. Moreover, she also starred in the hit web show, Four More Shots Please! The actor has had an exceptional year career-wise, and says she is “over the moon”.

Talking about her recent stint, Kirti says, “While it feels good to be successful, acknowledged and appreciated, I think it can be misleading, as well. It can make you disillusioned and make you lose your path. I don’t want to lose that. After all, success is really a fluke.”

She adds, “It may or may not happen, and it should not be the criteria to decide things or pick projects. Success has we can say that Pappu and Moeen are cut from the same cloth, so it came fairly easily to me. It has been a fun association with this platform and I am glad they want me to be a part other stuff they do. We all responded to public demand and brought back Pappu Paketmaar to make this cheeky announcement.”

About the surge in offers from the web, the actor says, “The digital medium is really showcasing how characters are becoming immensely popular. In recent years, there have been several iconic shows got nothing to do with your talent or hard work. There are millions of people, who are talented and hard-working, but not successful. Success happens or doesn’t, but what is important is that you find your way and your goal, and keep moving in that direction. You will learn from success and failure, in fact more from failure.”

The 34-year-old has just shot for the remake of The Girl On The Train, co-starring Parineeti Chopra, and will be seen in a web show, alongside Emraan Hashmi.

Kirti, who has been in the business for ten years, admits that it took her some time to realise what she wanted to do in her career. “With age and time, it is ideal if you are growing and you figure out what makes you happy. In my career, I moved along which have soared the popularity of many actors, apart from showcasing their talent. Like in a series, you aren’t restricted to your characters for 120-180 minutes, it’s more than that. So, you can experiment a lot more.”

Vijay further adds that it’s an exciting medium. “I’m looking forward to getting equally exciting offers from the digital space as well as films. Good content today is key, irrespective of the platform, and that to me is the biggest merit,” he signs off. according to the way the industry functions, which didn’t give me much of a choice often. You see that’s how it has worked for others, as well. But as you grow in your career and become confident, you understand yourself and know what is better for you, which is changing constantly, too,” the actor says.

She adds, “Today, I might love doing something which I wouldn’t want to do five years down the line. This is a big lesson that I have learnt in ten years. We need to understand and keep growing. While I started like other actors, I found myself as I worked on my craft, and today, it is all coming together. When something you do shows results, it boosts your confidence.”
