She is best known for her roles in light-hearted romantic comedies such as Pyaar Ka Punchnama series and last year’s Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. But overall, Ishita Raj Sharma’s Bollywood journey, which started in 2011, has been slow as opposed to how these films brought about a meteoric change in the careers of her co-stars Kartik Aaryan and Nushrat Bharucha.

Ishita says, “It is a game of perception. So I think it is crucial in today’s day and age to build a certain image. Everything is out there on social media. It is important to keep up with the marketing. It is all about doing that.”

The 31-year-old doesn’t deny that it gets a bit taxing at times. “It is part of the whole process. It gets exhausting but it is important. It is how things function here and so I am not complaining,” she adds.

Ishita also feels that as an actor, one has to be out there for people to be aware of their existence. “When I get calls for meetings, I make sure that I go there. People should know that I exist. The way to get work is to let my past work do the talking as well as take initiatives,” she shares.

The actor has been busy of late. She did a dance number in a recently released film and will star alongside Prateik Babbar and Siddhanth Kapoor in Yaaram. She adds good work is not easy to come by.

“It is a struggle. It is an ongoing process. Even after you have a successful film, you have to go through the same drill over and over again. It is the case with all actors. A hit film which is loved by the masses means that you have to live up to that expectation in your subsequent projects as well,” she shares.
