I feel more scared of stability: Zeeshan
While many crib about playing supporting roles in films, there’s Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, who feels there’s diversity in taking up such roles. And, he cashed in on the same by experimenting quite a bit during his career, spanning eight years.
Though there’s always a fear of getting stereotyped in supporting roles, the 36-yearold actor says he has stayed away from getting slotted by going for diverse characters. “There is no escaping from getting stereotyped for actors. But if you are strong headed and believe in your potential enough to take a risk with diverse roles, and if you are firm with your decision, you can never get stereotyped. Even if that means compromising on the money part, I’m willing to do it. I might earn less but I’ll be happier doing quality work than chasing the quantity,” he says.
The actor shares that complex characters thrill him. “Doing a complex role is so much fun; something that would make you get into the skin of the character and feel the emotions. If there will be no complexities then we wouldn’t be good actors,” says Zeeshan, who will be next seen in Hansal Mehta’s Turram Khan.
With over 21 films to his credit, including No One Killed Jessica (2011), Raanjhanaa, Shahid (both in 2013), Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015), Zero (2018) and this year’s Article 15, Arjun Patiala and Mission Mangal, Zeeshan says his journey in Bollywood has been a roller-coaster ride. “And I like it that way. In fact, I feel more scared of stability. A famous poet, Pash has said, ‘Ghar se nikalna kaam par, aur kaam se laut kar ghar aana, sabse khatarnaak hota hai’. I strongly believe in this and living life to the fullest, even if it is with ups and downs, success and failures, or taking a risk at the career front. The journey is more important than destination for me,” he says.
