KYA KAAM MIL JAYEGA MUJHE, THOUGHT ELLI AVRRAM

- Rishabh Suri

Actor Elli AvrRam is happy with the upswing in her career, and the fact that she got a ‘meaty’ role after a long time, which she was patiently waiting for. She will be seen playing the female lead in an upcoming web series, based on the Nanavati case, which was also adapted successfully into the Bollywood film, Rustom (2016), starring Akshay Kumar and Ileana D’Cruz.

But ask how she didn’t let any insecurity creep into her mind in the past few years, when things weren’t going the way she wanted, and she says, “That hasn’t been there at all, because I know what talent I have in me, what I am capable of delivering. I would say it’s more you start getting into a zone ‘Should I just give up? What am I doing? Maybe it’s not happening’… Kya kaam mil jaayega mujhe?’ because here, there’s already a fixed mentality, which can’t be changed.”

Elli says it was hard, but she eventually managed to snap out of it. “I am not going to be one of those who give up, kind of like (instead of letting) other people win, I decided to prove people wrong. I clearly believe God will give you something if you continue with your hard work. It will come to you sooner or later. Who would have imagined, that me, born in Sweden, who didn’t know anything about the Nanavati case… people would never imagine me in the role of a British lady! The wife has been made Indian in stories,” adds the 29-year-old, who has been a part of films such as Mickey Virus (2013) and Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon (2015).

She reveals, “I have got such a role after a long time, just the one I was waiting for. When I got the script, I started crying, because the character had so much performance to it. I truly feel it’s a blessing and there’s a big amount of gratitude.”
