Efforts towards a plastic-free future

Mother Dairy is taking several initiatives to spread awareness and reduce the use of plastic, including making a Ravan effigy of plastic waste

To reduce the use of plastic and move towards a sustainable, green future, a leading dairy player, Mother Dairy, is encouraging citizens to make conscious efforts and adopt eco-friendly measures in their daily lives.

On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the brand commissioned a 25-feet Ravan effigy using waste plastic. The waste was collected from households during a collection drive held earlier in Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad, where consumers deposited plastic waste at select milk booths, along with door-to-door plastic collection that was supported by leading NGOs. The effigy was not burned but dismantled and sent for recycling by IPCA, a Producer Responsibility Organisation, certified by the Central Pollution Control Board.

There was also an awareness march organised at Buddha Jayanti Park, which was joined by over 2,000 residents, consumers and employees among others, who pledged to reduce plastic usage.

Talking about the initiative, Sangram Chaudhary, managing director, Mother Dairy, said, “As an organisation, we feel it is our collective responsibility to create awareness against reducing the use of plastic in our daily lives. We are also thankful to the consumers of Token Milk, who are contributing daily by buying Token Milk and therefore leaving a green footprint every day. I am hopeful that more and more consumers will come out and cooperate in fighting this menace together as we embark on this journey of reducing plastic usage.”

Mother Dairy has already commenced research to develop an alternative packaging and delivery system to avoid the use of plastic.

ONE OF THE LEADING DAIRY PLAYERS IN THE MARKET, MOTHER DAIRY HAS TAKEN SEVERAL STEPS TO PROMOTE A BETTER, EC0-FRIENDLY LIVING BY ORGANISING PLASTIC-REDUCTION DRIVES, ASKING CONSUMERS TO PLEDGE TO CURB PLASTIC USE, AND OPT FOR TOKEN MILK
