Playback singing a dream that came true for Palak
Exploring new things is a crucial part of life. And for an artist, there’s nothing more exciting than to get a chance at that with every single project they do. So it is understandable when singer Palak Muchhal says she feels fortunate to explore different genres of music.
“I think I evolve with each song I sing. Whenever I enter a studio, I feel like I am entering an institution and the people I work with, be it music directors or singers, I get to learn a lot,” says the Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015) singer.
“I’ve also been very fortunate to explore different genres of music. Whenever I get to sing a new song, it’s like a new experience for me, a new opportunity for me to evolve,” adds the 27-year-old.
The singer has crooned songs such as Ik Mulaqaat in the recent Dream Girl, Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas in the other recent film of the same name, and is known for songs in films such as MS Dhoni: The Untold Story and Sanam Teri Kasam (both 2016).
It has been a “dream job” so far for Palak. “I always wanted to be a successful Bollywood playback singer and I decided this when I was six years old. So, I’m already on my dream,” she says, before naming melody queen Lata Mangeshkar as her inspiration.
“My influence has been Lataji ever since I was a kid and that has been constant. Even today when I go to a studio, when I get to sing a new song, I remember all the things I’ve learnt by listening to her songs. She has been my constant inspiration, and I have been greatly influenced by her,” shares Palak.
