When it comes to discussing films, actor Tannishtha Chatterjee and Nawazuddin Siddiqui get on like a house on fire.

And such is their bond that Nawazuddin not only encouraged her to make her directorial debut with Roam Rome Mein but also agreed to act in it as well for much less than what he usually charges.

“Nawaz charged very less fee for the movie. That’s because it is a passion project for him and we thought of doing it together. He reduced the fee and that is only because of his love for the craft,” says the 38-year-old.

The Angry Indian Goddesses (2015) actor, who also acts in the movie, says directing Nawazuddin was a sheer delight. “Nawaz’s commitment as an actor was really amazing. If I would ask him to come at 1am for the shoot, he would do that. If I would tell him to change immediately, he would do that and show 100 percent commitment and dedication,” she says.

This film, she says, will change the way Nawazuddin is perceived in Bollywood movies. “I think the film will definitely change the image that he has in the industry, not only the way he looks in the film but the kind of character that he has played so far. It is a very urban role for him,” Tannishtha shares.

Since most of the film is in English, it was a huge challenge for Nawazuddin, but Tannishtha says it wasn’t much of a problem. “He will be seen speaking in English. His character comes from a very humble background and is someone who has made his way up. I have kept the language very real,” Tannishtha concludes.
