India’s leading entertainment channel is coming with up new shows
Star World is known to bring some of the biggest shows from the world of television to its Indian audiences. And now, they are going a notch higher by bringing more of such shows that promise high acclaim in their ongoing property, Now Trending — a 7pm to 11pm programming slot that will house the newest and the most anticipated shows every weekend from this September.
From talk shows to a special drama line-up and some comic fun, Star World, through the Now Trending slot brings a range of shows from an array of genres including the likes of A Little Late with Lilly Singh, This Is Us, Watchmen and fantasy drama series His Dark Materials.
And there is more! A host of comedy offerings with the latest seasons of family sitcoms — Modern Family, Black-ish, Fresh Off the Boat and some musical love with Perfect Harmony — the American musical comedy TV series, which airs at 7.30pm every Saturday.
Now Trending kick-started with the premiere of A Little Late with Lilly Singh, hosted by YouTube star, Lilly Singh. Lilly is the first woman of Indian descent to host a latenight talk show in the US. The show’s first few episodes saw Lilly in talks with a diverse range of artists – Mindy Kaling, The Office fame Rainn Wilson, Jessica Alba, Meghan Trainor, Scary Movie fame Anna Faris, Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross, Saturday Night Live’s Kenan Thompson, and more. It airs every Saturday and Sunday at 8pm.
Under its drama offerings, Star World is geared up to premiere one of the most awaited series of the year — Watchmen. Based on the DC comics of the same name, this superhero drama starring Oscar-winning actor Regina King, the series will take its viewers to an alternate history in which superheroes are considered as outlaws. It will air from November 24 at 10pm, every Sunday.
Next in line, the channel brings another anticipated HBO British fantasy adventure series — His Dark Materials. Based on the novel series His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman, the show comprises actors, such as XMen fame James McAvoy, Wolverine fame Dafne Keen and award-winning actor Ruth Wilson. It will air from November 24, every Sunday, at 9pm.
The sixth season of Empire airs every Saturday at 9pm, Fresh Off the Boat airs every Sunday at 7pm, season 6 of Black-ish airs every Sunday at 7.30pm.
Starring Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K Brown, and more, the awardwinning family drama, This Is Us, has announced its renewal with three more seasons. The latest one, season 4, comes to India only on Star World every Saturday at 10pm!
That’s not all. Revolving around the lives of three different families and starring Sofía Vergara, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Modern Family comes to the channel with its latest and last Season 11, ending its decade-long run. It airs at 7pm every Saturday.
The channel also has a multitude of show offerings over the week such as Game of Thrones, Koffee with Karan, The Office, MasterChef Australia and much more.
