TOASTING YOUNG TALENT AND INCLUSIVITY
Lotus Make-up India Fashion Week in association with EBixCash, Spring Summer 2020 starts tomorrow with young designers opening the week-long event. Presented by the Fashion Design Council Of India (FDCI), hosted at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, India Gate, the fashion spectacle, this time, is all about breaking stereotypes. Designers Ragini Ahuja and Pratima Pandey will open this season’s fashion week.
“LMIFW is creating space for diversity in the fashion world by removing barriers. It will be an all new realm to see inclusivity coming into the fashion spectacle, this season. Hence, it’s time to capture the zeitgeist of millennial fashion, we have younger designers going ahead and opening the fashion week,” says Sunil Sethi, chairman, FDCI. Designer Ragini Ahuja of label Ikai vouches for this change, too. “We’ve been questioning rules in fashion for quite some time now and this season, it’s about catalysing the change. Every year, an established designer opens the fashion week. This time it’s the younger lot,” adds Ahuja.
Another addition will be a show dedicated to the North Eastern designers, Jenjum Gadi, Munkee.See. Munkee.Doo and Naturally Anuradha. “Fashion is like hobby in the North East, but now it has become a source of livelihood for many young North Easterners. Be it the inclusion of models or designers, fashion is reducing the gap between the North East and mainstream,” says designer Jenjum Gadi.
