When Karan Wahi was approached for a tree plantation drive at a school in Mumbai, the actor was more than glad to be a part of it. The initiative, called #NavraTree, was held on October 4, at the Khar Education Society. Marking the occasion, Karan visited the school and encouraged students to plant trees and help preserve the environment.

“Global warming is a really serious issue and we can, at least, take basic steps to protect our environment. Planting trees and switching from plastic to copper bottles is the least we can do,” says Karan, also offering to conduct workshops on tree plantation at the school in the near future.

The actor enjoyed being part of the initiative, which stemmed from his concern for the environment. He adds, “It was a really pleasant and enriching experience. Plus, it was lovely to spend the morning with enthusiastic young children. We planted a few saplings together, which was fun. I would like to give credit to the school that took the initiative. I feel more schools should follow suit. It’s very important for the society to know the importance of planting trees. It doesn’t take a lot of effort and it may be a long process but it’s worth the wait. Considering what’s happening around the globe, it’s important that we act now.”
