Why Palomi feels she hasn’t been explored enough as an actor
She may not have a dense filmography but Palomi Ghosh’s career so far has been very rich. The actor even received a special mention for her performance for her debut Konkani film Nachom-ia Kumpasar (2015) at the National Film Awards. The actor has followed it up with projects such as Mukti Bhavan (2017) and the recent web series Typewriter and Mission Over Mars.
On whether she thinks she’s been underutilised/ underrated, she says, “To be honest and not sound pompous or anything, I do feel that I have [more] things to offer as an actor. The shades and variety of parts that I think I could do haven’t been explored and exploited yet for sure. In that sense, I think there is a space for a lot more. So, I hope there will be more people who will have the vision to see me in many different things and this will be rectified and I won’t be underrated anymore,” she shares.
That notwithstanding, Palomi has tasted back-toback successes on the web recently and she says that the medium is a boon for artistic expression. “It allows you so much in terms of stories that you want to tell. The reach is immense. I agree that there is an overwhelming amount of content out there which is sometimes difficult to sift through because there is so much of it. But everything comes with pros and cons, and here, the pros outweigh the cons,” she says.
Besides acting, Palomi is also a singer, having done playback singing for Kajol in Helicopter Eela (2018). She is also now working on some independent music of her own.
“I am trying to put some music out there. I work with a fine musician and composer, Anurag Shankar, and we are trying to put some music we have made out there. Something should soon be out. We are working hard for it,” she says, adding she has the films Satellite Shankar and Tryst With Destiny lined up for release.
