I’ve consciously decided to not let any [work] pressure bog me down. If I’ll start thinking about all of these things, I’ll drive myself crazy. SAHER BAMBA

Making her debut in the recent Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas alongside another debutant, actor Saher Bamba was like a breath of fresh air. The film, also starring Karan Deol, might have failed to garner positive reviews or make a mark at the box-office, but Saher is content with the response her performance received.

“People did criticise the film but the feedback [for me] has been pretty decent. The film could have done well and that would have been the icing on the cake. But for me, more than the outcome of the film, what’s more important is the experience that I’ve had while filming it, and learning from everyone, especially Sunny sir (Deol, director),” Saher says.

Did she ever fear getting overshadowed by her star kid co-star? “Star kids do have an upper hand over actors who have no film background or godfather in the industry, but [in the end] it is the talent that survives,” says the 22-year-old.

And comparisons with contemporaries? Saher says they are bound to happen and admits that there are days when she feels a little insecure because she has no connection in Bollywood. “When I think about what’s next, I feel a little anxious. But I’ve consciously decided to not let any pressure bog me down. If I’ll start thinking about all of these things, I’ll drive myself crazy. Every actor has a journey and we all are doing some great work,” she elaborates.

And that is why, Seher believes, at the end of the day, every actor has to prove their mettle to survive the cutthroat competition. And hence, the actor wants to not let any comparisons or competition affect her. “You have to compete with yourself and up your game instead of thinking what the other person is doing. You need to strike a balance in whatever you do by taking decisions calmly. I’m only concentrating on to better myself and my acting and dancing skills,” Saher shares.

The actor might be busy honing her skills and prepping to do more work in Bollywood, but she is in no rush to jump on to the next project. She is being patient and waiting for the right projects. “I am watching a lot of films and attending workshops. I want to experiment with different genres. I am taking each day as it comes instead of taking up anything that’s coming my way just to be on the big screen.”
