Anubhav Sinha 2.0 tells stories straight from heart, says Dia Mirza
In utter admiration for filmmaker Anubhav Sinha and his revamped storytelling skills, actor Dia Mirza, who will be seen in his next directorial Thappad, says she wanted to work with the filmmaker once again after watching his critically acclaimed and commercially successful films Mulk (2018) and Article 15. The actor has worked with Sinha in Dus (2005) and Cash (2007) in the past, and Thappad will be her third collaboration with the filmmaker.
“I did two films with Anubhav Sinha ji many years ago. I think now its his 2.0 version, but I worked with him before this version. I really wanted to collaborate with him since the day I had watched Mulk and Article 15, which were made by him,” says Dia.
Team Thappad wrapped up shooting a few days ago and Dia Mirza, who also plays a key role, took to Twitter to write a special message on the wrap. She also appreciated the fact that the team consisted of a lot of talented women. “Kuch kahaniyan hum sabse badi hoti hain. Iss #Thappad ki goonj door tak jayegi. Some more incredible women who are a part of this amazing film are not a part of this picture. Thank you @anubhavsinha for telling this story and bringing us all together,” she captioned the picture.
The movie is based on a subject that challenges typecasting of women. The former beauty queen adds, “I just want to say that the reach of this Thappad (slap) will go far. I think people’s mindset will change after watching the film. I am very excited about this subject and now, he is telling stories that are coming straight from his heart. That’s what makes his storytelling so special.”
Dia made her Bollywood acting debut with Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein (RHTDM ) that completed 18 years on October 19. Remembering the film fondly, she says the romantic drama was ahead of its time. “Firsts are always special but RHTDM is a film that was ahead of its time, and packaged romance in a beautiful story. Apart from being a memorable start to my acting career, it has given me lifelong relationships and friendships that I cherish every day. Even now, it is difficult to believe that it has been 18 years since we shot the film,” she gushes.
