Millions try, but only a few succeed in making it big in Bollywood, a place where stars are known to be diplomatic most of the times. A single statement by an actor is so potent, that it carries the power to ignite a controversy. In such a scenario, how did rapper Badshah, who was into Punjabi music before stepping into Bollywood, adjust to the scene?

“Every industry is cutthroat. Koi bhi industry utha lo. It is very important to have your own opinion, but then again, you should we aware enough, and have complete knowledge about what’s going on. Uss cheez ke bina comment karoge toh tuk nahi banta. You need to have a sense of putting out your opinion without hurting anybody consciously,” says the 33-year-old, who made his acting debut with Khandaani Shafakhana this year. Sharing his opinions on the industry connections, the rapper says that he has not changed a bit. Instead has just understood a lot of things. “Every person has a story, all are going through something or the other. You have to put yourself in their shoes. There is no substitute for hard work, no matter how connected you are. Perform karo, kaam milega,” explains the rapper.

Elaborating on how having connections is useful in the industry, the rapper says, “For example, if I know you, jaanpehchaan ho gayi. Bas yahi hai. There’s a tendency that I will work with someone I know. But this doesn’t mean that you are going to do the best for me. If you do that, I will keep working for you.”

When it comes to music, recreations of old classics is the topic which has been inviting arguments for some time now. Badshah who recently worked on the Shehar Ki Ladki recreation says, “If done well, they are good. Kuchh logon ko achhe lagte hain, aur kuchh ko nahi. It’s subjective. I believe it’s going to die down sooner or later. Nahi achha lagta, to mat suno!”
