When the makers of the television show Patiala Babes announced a five-year leap and subsequent exit of the lead actors, it didn’t go down well with Paridhi Sharma who plays the titular role of Babita. She was unhappy with the way her track was shaping up and the 32-year-old feels that the “leap is happening for greater good”. Excerpts of an interview with the actor:

When you got to know that your plot in Patiala Babes is coming to n end, what was your reaction? was shocked to know that the how is taking a five-year leap, nd Aniruddh Dave (who ays a cop, Hanuman Singh ) and I will have to make an exit. Post-leap, the show will go on with the track of Ashnoor Kaur, who plays my daughter. I took the news sportingly as I wasn’t satisfied with the way my character was shaping up. All of this is happening for the greater good.

Was there a rift between and the makers?

No, there was no rift. But we had creative differences. Everybody had the notion that after my marriage in the show, the story will come to an end. But as per the writer’s brief, the real story was supposed to begin then, which never happened. I was looking forward to a twist in the story, but it didn’t shape up as expected.

Did you think of quitting?

Yes, I did think of quitting the show. But I wanted to raise my concern to the makers and told them that I was not enjoying the plot, before leaving. I wrote an email with 10-15 points that I found to be unsatisfactory. It was supposed to be an inspiring story for the society, but Babita’s character just went off track. I was waiting for their response and this news came in.

How will your role come to an end?

The makers are yet to decide our end from the show. They have a fresh concept in mind which they will roll out soon.

What’s in the pipeline after this? I’m planning to spend some quality time with my family and go on a vacation with my (three-year-old) son Ridharv.

Do you feel insecure as an actor when your character or show ends abruptly?

Not at all! I was never affected by insecurity because when I made my debut in the industry, I was already married and after becoming a mother, I came back as the lead in the show. Some actors feel insecure, but I strongly believe that as actors, we need to be extremely practical and professional. One has to do their work with utmost sincerity and focus. You never know what the future has in store for you.
