Trick or treat: Where’s the party tonight?
If it’s Halloween, how can people in Delhi-NCR miss the chance to bring out their spookiest clothes and makeup? If you want to know where to head for a rendezvous with ghosts, witches, vampires, and zombies, then here’s your fix. We bring you all the dope on some of the coolest Halloween parties or carnivals in town.
GET YOUR MAKEUP FRIGHT
If you think that you have the right dress to set the mood for Halloween, but no time for makeup, then visit The Art House Café in Connaught Place, after 8pm. There will be a horror theme for the occasion and there will also be a makeup artist available at the event. While there’s an entry fee, the makeup will be for free.
A SPOOKTACULAR HALLOWEEN
How cool does a Halloween carnival sound! Spooktacular Halloween kids’ carnival at V Club, Sohna Road, Gurugram, has it all. Starting at 4pm, you can participate in activities such as DIY science activities — spooky glow jars, monster slimes, and fake blood. Organised by WonderLab, the event also has a trick-or-treat station, a grand witch science show, fashion parade, Halloween games, and more. And, at the Beehive in Sector 43, Gurugram, you can shriek, laugh, and play or be the ghost and shoo them away with games, food, and creepy crawly surprises.
OPEN AIR CINEMA FOR SOME CHILLS
Nothing like a horror movie to ring in Halloween! Brace yourself as you watch horror/ thriller movies such as Shaun of the Dead (2004), Grudge (2004), and A Quiet Place (2018) under the Delhi sky, at SCC Peepal Tree, Akshara Theatre, 11-B Baba Kharak Singh Marg, from October 31 to November 2 at 7pm. Those cosplaying shall be rewarded.
ONE FOR THE POTTERHEADS
All you Harry Potter fans, don’t miss the chance to dress up as a Hogwarts student as Lord Voldemort might be waiting for you at Imperfecto Shor – Café, today, at 7pm. The world of magic will open up at this party in town as you get to dine under the eerie glow of the medieval lights with portraits on the walls and gothic decor.
HOWL TO INDIE MUSIC
At the Unbolly’s Halloween Takeover, expect decor to feature hanging bodies and amputated hands or legs. There will also be some amazing music to revel in. The party will be spread across 13 venues in the city, such as Raasta, Cafe TC (Green Park), The Piano Man Jazz Club (Safdarjung), Social (Nehru Place), and even some house concerts at secret venues. Shashank Bhatnagar, co-curator of the event, says, “There has been a void in Delhi’s indie music scene for some time. In an effort to bring the western celebratory concept of Halloween back to life, we have planned to bring all the party people under one roof for this specially curated night with Halloween decor and some really good music by more than 25 artists in different genres, such as DCF_Shapes, UKato, Begum, DJ PRAT, Corridor, and many more.”
