Actor Amol Parashar, who is best known for his web series Tripling, enjoys travelling and admits that it is one of the activities that he indulges in most often. The actor recently went on a road trip from Phuket to Bangkok, Thailand, and while he did see the two major tourist cities, he also explored the countryside stopping at towns and beaches along the way.

Amol says, “It was a completely different perspective on the place which is otherwise only seen as a party destination.” He adds that driving through the beautiful countryside was a breathtaking experience. “We went to Phi Phi (islands) and experienced the much talked about night life. We went out into the sea, and I snorkelled for the first time, which was a mesmerising experience. Kayaking solo in the Andaman sea was another experience that I won’t forget.”

Amol also tried the local cuisine. Speaking about the same, he says, “The cuisine has a heavy influence of sea food, so there was a lot of fish, shrimps and I even tried a dish with small octopuses.” He further adds, “In Bangkok, we tried the century egg, which is a normal egg baked in a certain way to make it look and feel like a 100year-old egg. Another interesting dining out experience was the condomthemed restaurant in Bangkok. The place is designed around the idea of population control and has a menu with dishes named after condoms and contraceptives.”

He shares that the locals, especially in the countryside, were very warm and welcoming. He ventured into small seaside villages and says that the locals would willingly guide them towards the spots with the best views. “Despite, the language barrier, the locals go out of their way to make you feel welcome. In big cities, the exchange is more functional as everyone is busier and to the point,” he adds.
