Doing the same thing over and over again can get boring and tiresome for any person. And actors are no different. So, one may think that Ronit Roy must have got fed up of playing the role of a father or cop in multiple films. But, the actor begs to differ.

“I have played a cop in my recent web series Hostages, a cop in Arjun Patiala… a cop again in Ugly (2014). I don’t believe in being typecast. There are a lot of permutations and combinations,” he says.

actor has responsibilities. Any actor worth his salt will not let himself get typecast”.

Ronit feels every father or cop character that he has essayed on screen has been different. He explains, “I truly believe destiny has a big hand to play in actors’ lives. I had also played a dad to Kiara Advani’s character in a film called Machine (2017). The film, however, didn’t do well.”

The actor will next be seen alongside Ranbir Kapoor in Shamshera. “The point is not ‘father hai’,” adds Ronit, “It is ki father kya kar raha hai... how he’s doing it. The setting changes, dynamics between characters change. But, there is no harm in doing a similar character you may have done before. You can do a little more and scale it up to something different.”
