Getting a lot of work, working 20 hours a day, say Sachet-Parampara
Producing a big hit doesn’t guarantee one future success. And the music composing duo of Sachet Tandon and Parampara Thakur know the importance of working “even harder”, especially after giving a blockbuster hit, Bekhayali from the film Kabir Singh.
“One thing that happens to anyone who gives a blockbuster song is that they know that they can no longer take their work for granted. I mean, just because we have given a hit like Bekhayali doesn’t mean that we stop working hard and think that now our music will be liked,” says Parampara, adding, “In fact, it means that people will be expecting more good work. So, we need to put in equal or more amount of work in whatever we compose now.”
The song, that crossed 100 million views on YouTube since its release in July, has ensured that the duo hardly get any time to sleep.
“If something becomes big, then you are bound to get a lot of work and that is happening with us as well. We also got an award for the song, which is something we never expected. So when your song gets appreciated, you only get motivated to work [more]. We’re getting a lot of work right now. We are working 20 hours a day,” Sachet says with a laugh.
The duo, who had composed songs such as Subha Ki Train (Toilet: Ek Prem Katha; 2017) and Nazarbattu (Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se; 2018) before Bekhayali, never expected the song to become “this big”. They were initially not even sure about the audience’s reaction to it.
“Of course one can never expect the response the song has had and we are extremely humbled by it. But the song had so many melodies; I think it had 70 melodies and we weren’t sure initially how this will grow. But I think everything happened organically, and just kept happening,” says Sachet.
“I think that’s why people also liked it. People fell in love with it slowly, and that’s how it became this big,” Parampara signs off.
