Actors are loving the freedom and opportunity that one is able to explore on the web now. And, the free-bird Kalki Koechlin is one of them.

“Yes I’ve been doing a lot of web because I’m enjoying the space. OTT platforms allow so much more in terms of content. There is so much that one can experiment with,” says the actor, who has featured in Sacred Games 2, Made in Heaven, Shockers, Smoke and more. She has had more offers come her way, and will soon start shooting for the second season of Made in Heaven.

Kalki believes that the web platform allows to explore a character better. “Unlike in a film, characters in web shows have more space and scope. The reason is the time — while a film is about a two- hour footage, a web show can go up to nine hours. So, not just the story, but the characters that are a part of it, also grow,” she says explaining why artistes find this space liberating.

Given how the web space is developing, is Kalki solely concentrating on it, and planning to take a break from films? The actor, who is expecting her first child with beau Guy Hershberg, dismisses such ideas. “I love films and would continue to do them along with web and my podcasts. Only quality will sustain and whatever platform focuses on that, is going to stay. Not all shows made on the web are going to stay in our memory for long. Only a few will,” she says, and adds how now stories are also narrated through games and visual reality.

“That has changed the way one watches content. So I can’t talk about the future of the platforms, but I can say that good content will stay in focus,” she stresses.

The actor was last seen in the Tamil film Nerkonda Paarvai and is currently busy with the second season of her podcast. But she admits she’s taking things a little slow. “I’d also take a three-month break after my baby is born,” adds the 35year-old.
