MUSIC AND FOOD MEANS #MOOD AT HT PALATE FEST
Day two of the event will have even performers from the line-up queueing up for a bite
There’s no way that the musical notes issuing from Chanakyapuri’s Nehru Park won’t draw you right inside. And once inside, what awaits you is fingerlicking food, interaction with celebrity chefs and engaging games — the Hindustan Times Palate Fest 2019 is here. And as the gates opened to Delhiites, the fragrance of amazing food and the hubbub around it turned the venue into its annual picnic avatar. From lazing around with cocktails to rounds of pool, the visitors did it all during the day. And the band Rocknaama arranged the approaching of the dusk to their tunes. From O Yaara, their debut single on friendship, and the evergreen youth anthem Khalbali to crowd favourites Bekhayali and Humma, they sang them all. Set to sizzle on stage today is Chittiyan Kalaiyan and Jugni Ji singer Kanika Kapoor. “I’m planning to sing most of my songs, mash-ups from the ’80s and ’90s and some beautiful songs from SRK’s movies. I’ve been brought up in north India and understand the pulse of the audience here. It will be like an a capella set, with people’s choice!” she says.
The singer is also bursting with excitement about the food she’s going to dig into. “I’m looking forward to chhole bhature and kali dal with butter naan. And I’m also looking forward to kachori chaat and kulfi... oh my god, my mouth’s started watering. Can’t wait, guys! Delhi, I’m coming,” adds Kanika.
Also part of the line-up are DJ Lucky, and a musical act by Sudhir Yaduvanshi and his band Maya Bazaar. “We plan to sing a mix of Sufi rock and some Punjabi folk with dhol. We are coming to Palate for the first time and are excited since we’ve heard a lot about the event. Also, my team has some diehard momo lovers, and they are waiting to try all different flavours available. As far as I’m concerned, I’m expecting to find some nice chaap there!” says a pumped Sudhir.
