‘India was the inspiration behind our Kingdoms In Colour’
They have come to India individually and performed, but for the first time ever, popular British electronic duo, Maribou State, will be in the country with their entire band for a show. “We’re incredibly excited to bring the full live band to India this year. As luck would have it, it will also be our final live show of this campaign, so it feels extremely fitting to tie up the Kingdoms In Colour tour in the place that it all started,” says Chris Davis, who also reveals that India was the “driving force” behind the duo’s last album, Kingdoms In Colour.
“It’s a country that is very close to our hearts, and essentially was the main inspiration and driving force behind our second LP, Kingdoms In Colour,” adds Liam Ivory, the other half of the duo.
They will be performing at the upcoming music festival Magnetic Fields, which is scheduled to take place in Alsisar (Rajasthan), this month.
Recalling their previous performances in India, Chris says, “The DJ shows we’ve done in the past have all been fantastic, with engaging and passionate crowd. I think it initially shocked us to witness the buzzing electronic music scene in India, but it’s a great thing, and we hope it continues to grow.”
The duo catapulted towards global fame in a short span, thanks to hits such as Moon Cirles (2013), Varkala (2015) and Kingdom (2018), and the

two, despite the dislike they have for social media promotions, owe a lot to the world of internet and social media for it. “In my view, social media is paramount for promoting any kind of project in today’s world. It’s not something we particularly enjoy doing, but we respect the importance of remaining active online,” says Liam.
“The previous bands we were both part of relied heavily on the DIY culture of promotions, which included social media platforms. Since then we’ve grown along the developments in social media. It’s kind of all we know. We’ve been fortunate enough to exist in a word where our music can be shared globally, without much hindrance,” says Chris.
