For Sahil, it’s all about striking the right balance

- Anjali Shetty

Food assumes a lot of importance in one’s life, but striking the right balance is something we all struggle with. We got actor Sahil Khattar to share some tips on the same. Excerpts:

Which is the one breakfast food that you must have?

Aloo and paneer parathe with pickle, butter or ghee.

One fattening food item that you just can’t resist? Chhole bhature and Margherita pizza

How do you get back in shape after an indulgence?

I play football, which is cardio for me. I do go to the gym ,but it’s very important to have natural cardio.

Do you prefer mini meals? Yes, I do have mini meals, which contain a healthier version of what I love like paratha or a roti with sweet potatoes, corns, broccoli, and also boiled eggs. When I am on any diet, I eat only three rotis.

What’s a diet plan that always works for you?

Higher carbs or proteins and a lot of fibre help me burn fat. When I was on a diet, my breakfast used to be a banana, idli or banana shake and then a decent Punjabi meal. For snacks, I’d have sweet corn, and sweet potatoes, and dinner was another Punjabi homecooked meal in refined oil or olive oil.

Do you work out at home? What are the exercises you follow?

I don’t workout at all. I am very lazy. I only workout when there is a project that needs me to workout. At the most, I do crunches and push-ups just to get in shape.

Do you prefer outdoor or indoor physical activity?

People have this idea of functional fitness, however, I feel the body should be left at a normal temperature.

Why sweat outdoors when it can be done in the gym.

Eat the food that makes your mind happy. Sometimes I prefer junk food just to keep my mood elevated.

Which are your favourite physical activities?

Playing football and roller hockey. Also, I love to go for a quick jog and if you ask me if I prefer cardio in the gym or if I’d like to play some sport, I would say football, any day.

A health tip that you rely on. A healthy body and a healthy mind is good, but sometimes an unhealthy body and a healthy mind is also good. Eat the food that makes your mind happy. Never force-feed yourself. Sometimes, I prefer junk food just to keep my mood elevated. You should eat what makes your heart happy, too. If you are not happy with what you eat then it’s of no use. The food you eat will affect your mind.
