Set to get inked at this tattoo fest in the Capital?
It is rare when you have the access to choose the best among the very best. No, we are not talking about food, but the annual tattoo festival in the Capital. Heartwork Tattoo Festival offers a perfect weekend to Delhiites, especially body ink enthusiasts, with tattoo seminars, contest, workshops, and dance battle with live music.
The event, in its fifth year, features artists from across the world. Lokesh Verma, one of the organisers, says,“The festival is filled with food, music, and live tattooing. India has a lot of unexplored talent; this festival brings out the talent by providing them a stage. The festival will also bust myths related to tattooing. People need to know that tattooing can be as safe as visiting a dentist if they go to a properly equipped studio that uses FDA and EU approved inks, needles, and other equipment. After doing their research properly people can easily find studios adhering to these standards.”
Around 150 Indian artists and 60 international artists will be a part of this three-day festival. Tattoo artist Vikas Malani says, “Delhi has been one of my favourite places to visit. Delhi clients have always been enthusiastic when it comes to trying new things and experimenting with tattoos. We are also looking forward to educating the young generation about the new products and technology available for tattoos and tattoo aftercare.”
Delhi gives different experience to different artists. Tattoo artist Jamie Mahood from USA shares, “This is my second year coming to Delhi for the convention, and it has been amazing to be a part of it. Delhi, and India in general, is so different from not only the US, but from anywhere I have been on my travels. I have actually been sharing stories all year to other tattooers about the experience of working here. All of the tattoo artists out here are so kind and eager to help others. As for the clients, they have been great as well. Last year, I tattooed a local artist, and he and his wife, who is also in the industry, went above and beyond by showing me around the city after the show.”
