I care about work, not the platform: Sapna

Though she debuted with Khamoshiyan back in 2015, actor Sapna Pabbi’s career didn’t pick momentum the way she would have expected. In fact, she didn’t have a single Hindi film release till Drive, which recently released on an OTT platform. The film, which also stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernanadez, however, did not get a theatrical release.

So, did that bother her? “I was actually okay with it. I am just happy to see the film release. I care about my work, not which platform it releases on,” she replies, adding, “The film went through so many changes. We were really trying hard with the film. Our entire team was working towards the finishing line, and you know sometimes it’s a good thing and sometimes it’s also a bad thing. I am okay with it. I do my work and move on.”

“I was supposed to make my debut with John Abraham’s production Satra Ko Shaadi Hai, which unfortunately got shelved. After Khamoshiyan, there was a lot of glory, thanks to the songs. I did get quite a lot of attention,” she says.

The actor adds that even though she may not have done any big film, she is happy to be associated with the popular TV series, 24. “It brought me back to the creative perspectives that got lost when I kept thinking how I wanted to do another film or do a lead role. I, then, realised that I need to be a part of good content, irrespective of it being big or small. I need to keep working,” she shares.

Though the actor stayed away from Hindi films, she was busy with regional cinema. She has also generously dabbled with the digital space, and will now be seen in the second season of Inside Edge.
