How Jatin Sarna landed a cameo in a Rajinikanth-starrer
Actor Jatin Sarna, known for his role as Bunty in the web series Sacred Games, is heading into 2020 with two projects. One of them is a cameo in Rajinikanth-starrer Darbar — something that he’s very excited about.
In the A.R. Murugadoss directorial, Jatin will be seen as a gangster. Though it’s a small part, it was no less of a fanboy moment for him to share screen space with the superstar.
Recounting how he landed the part, he shares, “I was attending my theatre rehearsal when I got a call from Nalini Ratnam, a well-known casting director. She said ‘Jatin, A.R. Murugadoss is making a film with Rajinikanth sir and there is a cameo, if you’re interested. So can we push your name?’” That’s when Jatin expressed his curiosity about the project and asked if he’d be shooting with ‘Thalaiva’ himself. While the casting director answered in the affirmative, she also told him she had already said no to them, but was checking with him just in case.
“I said I would definitely want to do it. Because, if Rajinikanth sir is there and A.R. Murugadoss is directing it, though it is a cameo...I think my only thing was that I wanted to work with Rajinikanth sir,” adds Jatin, whose desire to work with the veteran actor piqued after watching Kaala (2018).
The experience of working with Rajinikanth, Jatin says, was “fantastic”. He adds that the actor, as well as the entire crew of the film, were “humble and down to earth”.
