Sunn Raha Hai Na Tu trio back with latest song
He is known for his melodious love ballads — such as Sunn Raha Hai Na Tu (Aashiqui 2; 2013), Galliyan (Ek Villain; 2014), Bheegh Loon (Khamoshiyan; 2015), and Jab Tum Hote Ho (Rustom; 2016) — and that’s how singer-composer Ankit Tiwari has created a space for himself in the hearts of music aficionados.
His latest rendition Phir Na Milen Kabhi — featuring Aditya Roy Kapur and Disha Patani — from Mohit Suri’s Malang is yet another song that has been receiving appreciation. Interestingly, the song brings Mohit, Ankit, and Aditya back together after their 2013 hit song Sunn Raha Hai... from Aashiqui 2.
“Phir Na Milen Kabhi is very close to our hearts because after so many years of Sunn Raha Hai..., it has brought Mohit, Aditya, and me together. Though I had worked with Mohit in Ek Villain in between…,” says Ankit, thanking the entire team that worked on the track.
Giving us a glimpse of how the song came about, Ankit reveals that the “well-written lyrics” by Prince Dubey got the ball rolling. Sharing how he needs to connect with the mood of the song before lending his voice or composing a song, Ankit says, “Prince had given me the liberty to work on the song as I would like to… Mujhe yaad hai main piano par baitha hua tha aur gaana padh raha tha, jiss tarah sey lyrics the samajh raha tha… Aise karte karte ideas bantey gaye aur phir finally tune crack hua… This is a sad song in the soft-rock ballad genre. It’s a song that captures the mood of two people in love who are slowly moving apart.”
He adds, “I’ve a different equation with Mohit. I usually don’t know the story, what I know is the mood. So, initially I compose a small portion and make Mohit listen to it and then we progress.”
