February is here and the National Capital Region, blanketed by a veil of mist and chill, is gearing up to embrace one of the most anticipated sporting events — Madhavrao Scindia Golf Tournament (MSGT).

Returning for its 15th edition, the MSGT is an annual event celebrating the memory of the iconic statesman and political leader, Madhavrao Scindia. The event raises funds for the Scindia Foundation, which works towards the health and education of the underprivileged. On February 1, DLF Golf and Country Club, Gurugram, will open its greens to welcome around 120 golfers, which include corporate leaders, businessmen and celebrity golfers.

MSGT, continuing with the tradition of the last few years, will serve as the Indian qualifier for the highly reputed Duke of Edinburgh Charity World Finals at Windsor, near London. Two winners from Delhi will get an exclusive opportunity to compete with golfers of international repute at the prestigious private course of the British Royal Family at Windsor Castle. One of the qualifiers from the 2018 MSGT edition, Jatin Sandhu, went all the way to win the World Charity Trophy at the World Finals.

This year’s illustrious participant list comprises business leaders Rajiv Singh, Pankaj Munjal, Sunam Sarkar, Satish Sharma, Mohit Talwar, Sudhir Seth and Aakash Ohri, along with former cricketers Madan Lal, Murali Kartik, Nikhil Chopra, and socialite Neelam Pratap Rudy.

Speaking about carrying forward the legacy of his father, senior politician Jyotiraditya Scindia said, “It is our privilege to be able to give back to the society, and sports offer one of the best possible avenues for us to do so. The Madhavrao Scindia Golf Tournament has grown over the years and it has offered us a means to continue the legacy of Shri Madhavrao Scindia. The one-of-a-kind DLF Golf and Country Club stands apart in terms of difficulty, beauty and serenity, and we would like to thank DLF for hosting the tournament and their support each year. We would also like to extend our gratitude to all supporters who come together each year for this good cause. I wish everyone the very best and hope that our winners go on to achieve greater honours during the World Finals at Windsor Castle.”
