Self-love is the best way to find true love. And it’s not merely something that singer Shalmali has conveyed through her latest single but is also something she strongly believes in. And celebrating that, the singer has come up with a new song Kalle Kalle.

On the idea behind the track, the singer, who has crooned numbers such as Pareshaan (Ishaqzaade; 2012) and Manva Likes To Fly (Tumhari Sulu; 2017), says, “I’m at a stage where I can say it with a lot of confidence that, while we’re all looking to be loved by someone, what actually makes and keeps us happier is when we can love ourselves. We should do that before looking for someone else to make us happy.”

The lyrics of Main Kalle Kalle Khush Hun, manifests that a woman doesn’t necessarily need a man to make her happy. She says, “By releasing it in a month that celebrates love, we want to celebrate love for oneself, and to tell all those single women out there — who are probably looking at their friends who have boyfriends and lovers, and thinking they are alone — that they are probably happier right now. Being alone is better than forcing yourself to be in a relationship that is not good for you. This is to empower all those single women and celebrate their singlehood.” So, is Shalmali single, too? Dodging the question, she replies, “Shalmali is single, or is she? She has been at many points, and she may be single now.”

The singer features in a new avatar in the song’s video, which she describes it as “hot, sexy and yummy looking”. Caeser of the Bosco-Caeser choreographer duo has worked on the video, and for Shalmali it was an “absolutely delightful process” to combine her love for singing, dancing and acting in the song.

By releasing it in a month that celebrates love, we want to celebrate love for oneself, and to tell all those single women out there... that they are probably happier right now.
