When you look at something blue — like the hues of sky and ocean — it inspires emotions of peace and calm. Similarly, when you use the tone in your home, it instantly infuses a sense of warmth and brightness.
According to experts, people often choose this shade over others because of the seamless harmony it creates when incorporating different arrays of furniture and artefacts. Some like to opt for minimal decor, whereas some like to go all-out with the hue.
TIPS TO ADD BLUE
Choose right furnishings: The easiest and the most economical way to add a colour in your home decor is cushions, rugs, curtains, table runners, and bed covers. A combination of blue and quirky accessories make for an eye-catching space. Blue doors, cabinets, upholstery, vases and window shutters in a neutral space, paired with natural wood tones, will make for an elegant space.
Change the wall colour:
Coloured wooden slats (since it’s trending), wallpapers, different techniques of paint (ombre, single wall, colour blocking, and texture paint), coloured pop and wooden mouldings, etc, can be used to incorporate blue. Along with an accent wall, you can add accessories in metallic blue shimmer, and muted shades of pink, green and lilac to give the space a delicate hint of cheery pop and vintage glamour.
Add flowers: Get some fresh flowers such as blue orchids, blue hydrangea, blue hibiscus, blue calla lilies, and blue carnation, and place them in a vase. Create contrast: For a bolder, eccentric look, the entire room can follow a blue monochrome palette, balanced by subtle detailing and neutral colours. It can also be paired with highlight furniture pieces in lush velvets, silks and satins, modern artworks, and green planters to create a contrast. Blue with earthy tones, and bold shades of terracotta, burnt orange, and ochre can add an organic yet artistic vibe to the room. You can simply get blue lampshades, matt finish sconces, glass chandeliers, etc, to break the colour monotony through lights. Blue goes well with black as well, and can be used in combination with various colour tones and shimmer to create a bold look for the living room and the kitchen space.
