The actor opens up about the special bond she shares with her spot boy

You would often come across Bollywood celebrities wishing other film fraternity members in innovative ways on their birthdays, on social media. But here was actor Richa Chadha, who took a heartwarming detour to put her spot boy of eight years in the spotlight on his special day.
Last month, Richa, in a rare gesture, posted a video on Twitter, and introduced him by writing: “This is Deepak Rathod. He’s been my spot for 8 years! It’s his birthday... I love you Deepak! You are amazing.”
Ask her about it and she says, “He has been my buddy. He has been with me since we were both beginners. He is like a brother and takes care of me. He is sweet, unassuming and so simple.”
Richa says that he not only brings some farm produce from his village whenever he visits, but also gets her traditional Maharashtrian food cooked by his wife whenever she shoots in Film City, Mumbai.
She shares, “We have a very nice relationship. There’s a lot of equality. I ask him, ‘Kaisa lag raha hai?’ whenever I try on something, and he’d say ‘No, it’s not nice’. I also keep trying to teach him English because he says he wants to learn it... He’s very sharp.”
Richa also quips how she has probably spent more time with Deepak than she has with her parents in the last five years. “And that’s because I am always on outdoor shoots,” says the Section 375 (2019) actor, who believes in valuing some strong bonds that she has built during the course of her journey in Bollywood.
As an artiste who gives due credit to those that work behind the scenes with her, Richa says, “Why should I not credit my team? My team makes me.”
