The popularity of digital entertainment is scaling new heights, and it seems everyone is riding the wave, including Adah Sharma. The actor feels that OTT platforms have given easy access to a lot of actors who, otherwise, don’t get much work in films.

“There are so many actors in our country, but when we look at the number of films, there aren’t many. Only a certain number of people get to realise their acting dream. However, with the web space coming up in a big way, a lot of people are now getting work. It doesn’t matter whose daughter or son you are. If you can act well, you’ll get a chance,” explains Adah, who has done a web film, Moh, and a series, The Holiday, so far.

So, does this whole nepotism situation in Bollywood get worrisome for actors like her, who are rank newcomers and have no connections in the film industry? “Well, that’s something persisting, and it’s a problem,” she says, adding,

“But, it’s also something that we all knew would happen when we get into the profession. So, it’s no surprise. I’m one of those positive people who has learned to live with it.”

Adah had four releases last year — Tamil film Charlie Chaplin 2, Telugu film Kalki and two Hindi films, namely Bypass Road and Commando 3. Despite Bollywood keeping her on her toes, she didn’t shy away from pursuing regional projects.

“Honestly, I don’t have a plan. If I had one, I’d probably do things more efficiently. For me, I choose films if I connect with the story immediately. Sometimes, I say no and then people say ‘How can you say no?’ My intuition is very strong,” she says. “I like to do things I’ve not done before. In Commando 3, my character had a strong Hyderabadi accent and I loved the challenge of perfecting that,” the 27-year-old adds.
