A crazy family, just like your own
Now that the release date of director Hitesh Kewalya’s film Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan — starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar in the lead — is coming closer, its makers are giving us more reasons to be excited about this rom-com.
Based on the subject of homosexuality, the film traces the journey of two men voicing their love for each other. A perfect family entertainer, the film will instantly remind you of your own family, thanks to the unique characters sketched by the filmmaker.
The film also features actors Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta, Manurishi Chaddha, Maanvi Gagroo, Sunita Rajwar, Pankhuri Awasthy, and Neeraj Singh in interesting roles.
As seen in the trailer, the bond Kumar and Khurrana share with their respective families reminds us of every Indian household. Meanwhile, Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta are depicted as extremely loving and protective parents, who are a little archaic in their thinking.
Resonating with the sentiments of the country’s households, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is a treat for the Indian diaspora worldwide. The film makes us think of any Indian joint family, which comprises everyone from chacha-chachi and cousins to nearly the whole khandaan. Every family has its quirks and that’s what the film beautifully depicts.
Kewalya shares, “When I was penning the story of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, families from the small towns of India were my inspiration. The idea was to craft characters and a story that would be relatable to the viewers.”
Jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Aanand L Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan will hit the screens on February 21.
