A melange of Israeli and international artworks in the city
Artworks in vibrant hues make heads turn at this show that celebrates 28 years of diplomatic relations between India and Israel. Organised by the Embassy of Israel in India and Bruno Art Group, the group show titled Shining Brightly, has works of Israeli and other global artists.
More than 30 artworks are featured in different mediums — both in traditional and innovative techniques such as acrylic and mixed-media paintings, aluminium wall installations, and resin and wood sculptures — embodying contemporary Israeli culture.
The participating artists include Yaacov Agam, Calman Shemi, David Gerstein, Natan Elkanovich, Roy Yariv, Uri Dushy (all from Israel), Anu
Malhotra (India) and Charles Fazzino (USA).
Yariv, a multimedia artist, has created acrylic paintings, aluminum wall sculptures and lenticular works of art. He says, “I’ve been to India several times displaying my art at the India Art Fair and it has always pleased me how the Indian audience has reacted to my art — with enthusiasm and passion. I believe art is an international language and speaks where words are sometimes unable to describe something. My inspiration is being created by the interesting people I meet.”
Dr Ron Malka, Ambassador of Israel to India, says, “We are excited to present the colourful and vibrant artworks of Israeli artists in India. I invite everyone to come to the exhibition and explore Israeli art and, through it, the Israeli culture.”
